Research Databases

Online databases are collections of magazine, journal and newspaper articles, as well as other reference sources like encyclopedias, dictionaries and directories. Databases contain the same information that you can find in library books, magazines and newspapers, but make it available electronically over the Internet.  Access these premium websites free with a library card.

Contains the full text of the Twayne Literary Masters books which provide biographical and literary criticism on a wide variety of world, US, or English authors.

Gale - Business and Company ASAP
Contains full text articles on companies, markets and industries including market trends, mergers and acquisitions to current management theory and company overviews. Included are business and trade journals, newspapers and company directory profiles with full text and images. Coverage is from 1980 to the present.

Gale - Business and Company Resource Center
Includes company profiles, brand information, company histories, financial reports, periodical articles, and links to relevant Web sites. 

Gale - Business Index ASAP
Perform in-depth research on management issues, economic indicators, and business theories and practices as well as on the activities of companies and industries worldwide.

Find high-quality information about almost any general topic.

Grolier - Encyclopedia Americana
Search encyclopedia articles.  Articles include links to further readings, a bibliography, selected full text articles, and web page links.

Grolier - Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia
Find encyclopedia articles, news, timelines, quizzes and games, and research starters.  This resource also includes an atlas and dictionary. Articles can be grouped by lexile level.

Grolier - The New Book of Knowledge
Geared for middle grade students, this encyclopedia includes literary selections, a timeline, projects and experiments, news, homework help and more.

Ancestry.com
Research the history of your family with online access to historical records provided by Ancestry.com. Discover where and when your ancestors lived. Read actual historical documents that refer to members of your family. Perfect for building family trees and other genealogical research.

Heritage Quest
Search census images from 1790 to 1930; 25,000 family and local history books; Revolutionary War records; Freedman’s Bank Records; and the Periodical Source Index (PERSI) covering over 6,500 genealogical periodicals since 1800.

Designed specifically for students in kindergarten through the fifth grade, it contains full text for more than 50 popular, elementary school magazines.  Full text is also available for over 100 student pamphlets, the Funk and Wagnall's encyclopedia, EBSCO Animals and a dictionary.

Designed specifically for elementary school libraries, Primary Search contains full text for more than 50 popular, elementary school magazines. Full text is also available for over 100 student pamphlets, an encyclopedia and a dictionary. Full text articles are assigned a reading level indicator. Gale - National Newspaper Index
Provides indexing of America's top five newspapers: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. Dates covered are 1977 to present. Type: Indexing only.

Gale - New York State Newspapers
